Announcements for a Friend--New Idea??

A good friend of mine had her first baby recently. As part of a gift to her, I told her I would love to make her some baby announcements. I asked her about colors and what she's into right now and she mentioned pastel greens and browns, plus polka dots. I went with it, then decided I wanted to try something that had been in my head for a while. This is another idea I haven't seen out there anywhere, so I was so excited to come up with it and have it work out. It's a similar idea to faux metal, but I'm going to call it "Faux Plaster." I am not always a big fan of my creations, but I love how this came out. The prints would be great for scrapbook pages and I plan to use the idea on some of the pages for my little ones. Hope you like it.

Stamps--I'm Here (retired SU), Baby footprints (non-SU)
Ink--Whisper White Craft Ink, Versamark (for embossing)
Paper--Chocolate Chip CS, Close to Cocoa CS, Gable Green CS
Accessories--3/4" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 3/4" circle punch, 2" circle punch (non-SU), white embossing powder, Heat Tool, Two-Way Glue

To create the prints in the 'faux plaster,' put Versamark on a piece of scrap cardstock and pour on white embossing powder. Heat. While still hot, add another layer of embossing powder and heat. (If the embossing powder isn't sticking, just add more Versamark.) Make three or four layers. While the embossing powder is still hot, stamp image (inked in Versamark to make it easy to remove) into layers. Voila!

Hey there - this is REALLY cute!! I'm going to print and save in my "idea file"!! It looks like you held the baby over the circle and had him put his feet in it!! (ouch! thank goodness it was a stamp!! lol!) Janice

Wow, that does look like embossed metal, which is what I thought it was at first. Great card and awesome idea.

I love this idea. I don't have any white embossing powder, guess I'll have to get some. This is perfect with the baby feet. Great job. Jennifer Eby
